Who We Are
We are Christ-Exalting – Worship is the ultimate priority and chief end of man. It is the highest purpose for which the Christian has been redeemed: to enjoy God and to make much of Him. Whether through song, giving, Scripture reading, or preaching, we would see God exalted as the centerpiece of our highest love and adoration.
We are Calvinistic – We believe that “salvation is of the Lord,” that redemption is solely an act of God’s grace and kindness toward undeserving sinners. As sovereign over salvation, God is the one who predestines, calls, regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies without any contribution or work of merit from man. In Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit, He has done and will do everything necessary to guarantee salvation from beginning to end.
We are Credo-baptistic – As one of the ordinances of the church, we hold to baptism by immersion for believers only, in which they make a public identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are Confessional – We adhere to the London Baptist Confession of 1689 as a devout and accurate expression of the historic Christian faith.
We are Covenantal – A covenant is “a declaration of God’s sovereign pleasure concerning the benefits he will bestow on man, the communion they will have with him, and the way and means by which this will be enjoyed by them.” Covenant Theology views the whole of Scripture through the lens of God making covenants with people and nations in tracing the flow of Redemptive History.
We are a Community – Jesus started the church, so we believe it is a big deal. At ERRBC we hold a high view of the body of Christ, of Lord’s Day worship and church membership. As His beloved people, God has called us to be a holy nation and royal priesthood that will faithfully proclaim his name among the nations. At ERRBC we desire to forge a community in which we spur one another on to love and good works, and enjoy the time we can spend encouraging one another and growing together in the most holy Faith.
